The ecocrest© label was launched in 2006 with a great press conference at the Acquario di Genova, which was also attended by companies working in the luxury sector (see invitation and initial presentation). The launch of the ecocrest© certification was initially supported and sponsored mainly by Centro Tessile Cotoniero e Abbigliamento SpA and BerBrand srl but, over the years, various luxury sector companies and organisations dealing with environmental protection or sustainable management have accompanied the the ecocrest© process in several countries.

The Centro Tessile Cotoniero ed Abbigliamento SpA, the only body authorised by the Oeko-Tex Association for research and testing in the field of Textile Ecology to issue the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 mark in Italy, supports the ecocrest© initiative and collaborates with the non-profit Fondazione Acquario di Genova Onlus to achieve higher product quality.

BerBrand s.r.l. collaborates with the non-profit Fondazione Acquario di Genova Onlus, supporting the ecocrest© certification programme. Furthermore, BerBrand s.r.l. participates in joint eco-solidarity programmes aimed at a more rational and sustainable management of marine resources with the involvement of local communities.
